All Chariot models meet with the high standards of the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), a consumer protection organization. In our opinion, it’s the best possible reference, since no other safety certification – including Germany’s TÜV and GS seals of approval – involves such stringent and consistent testing of the entire system as opposed to merely individual components.

Standards developed by ASTM command worldwide respect. All Chariots are tested according to internationally recognized ASTM-F1975-02 standard, which includes extensive endurance, load, acceleration, tip-over, drop and brake testing. For more information, see:http://www.astm.org/

SAFETY AND TECHNOLOGY

Proven safety: ASTM

Designed and manufactured in Canada, Chariots have stood the test of time in real-world conditions the world over. But what about standardized safety tests?

Endurance testing

Endurance testing

All Chariot models have been showing what they can withstand for 15 years. In standardized ASTM tests, for example, they are regularly placed on a treadmill that simulates bumps and other assorted surface irregularities with varying loads at different speeds. A series is only approved when no concerns arise following the subsequent material inspections of the frame, axles, wheels and harnesses.

Safety in the dark

Safety in the dark

The high-quality reflective striping on your Chariot makes it appear to motorists and everyone else on the road like in the picture to the left. Starting in 2008, the Cougar, CX and CSL Sport models are also equipped with photo-luminescent Energlo® fabric.

A child is always secure and protected in a Chariot: from the elements and UV radiation along with overturning and other accidents. Buckled up, your children are firmly bound to the frame, which doubles as a rollover cage, so they’re safe and sound. Among others, this has been confirmed by comprehensive crash tests at Germany’s Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt).

In case of emergency

The fact that well-built bicycle trailers offer good protection in traffic was also verified by trials at the Allianz Center for Technology (AZT), which conducted its own tests of various child carrier systems in typical accident situations. For example, when a passenger car traveling at 20km/h collided with the side of a bicycle with trailer, the trailer “was only pushed aside and surprisingly did not roll over.”

Hitch test

A secure connection to the bike is an absolute must. So it’s good to know that you can still depend on the Chariot hitch even after more than 100,000 push-pull movements at high speeds and a 56°kg test load.

Continuous quality management

All Chariot models undergo multi-stage product and quality control, spanning from the production phase in Calgary, Canada to assembly and your personalized instruction session with a qualified dealer. Count on great service after making your purchase, too.
